Project Update
Deputy Minister for Electricity and Energy, Dr. Tun Naing, conducted an inspection of the 230kV Shwebo Main Sub-Power Station Project in Sagaing Region on Saturday. During the visit, officials provided updates on the project’s progress and outlined future plans.
The Deputy Minister emphasized the importance of completing the project within the targeted timeframe while prioritizing worksite safety. Once operational, the substation will facilitate the transmission of electricity generated by the Tapain-1 Hydropower Station in Bhamo, Kachin State, to the national grid via the Bhamo-Nabar-Shwebo-Ohntaw power line. This will enable the distribution of electricity at full voltage to both Sagaing Region and Kachin State.
Later in the day, Dr. Tun Naing visited the 230kV Ohntaw Main Sub-Power Station in Sagaing, where he reviewed the extended facility of the 230/33/11kV 100 MVA transformer. He reiterated the need for stringent safety measures and conducted a thorough inspection of the worksite.
This project marks a significant step in strengthening Myanmar’s national grid and ensuring reliable power supply to the region.
